Starting USCIS has announced a new registration requirement for certain non-citizens residing in the United States. Effective April 11, 2025, non-citizens aged 14 and above who have not previously registered and plan to remain in the US for 30 days or more must apply for registration and fingerprinting.

This new rule also applies to parents or legal guardians of non-citizen children under 14 years old who plan to stay in the country for 30+ days without prior registration. However, Lawful Permanent Residents (green card holders) and some other categories of non-citizens are exempt from this requirement as they are already considered registered.
